Diversity Statement

A conscious integration of gender perspectives and conditions of disability

is prioritized. This inclusive approach enhances overall research impact and societal

advancements.

The project team is diverse, with equal gender representation in various roles.

Beyond equity, integrating a gender perspective strategically strengthens competitiveness,

technological development, and productivity. Considering diverse experiences fosters

innovative problem-solving, enriching our understanding of Antarctica's complex environment. This inclusive stance not only contributes to a balanced and representative research community but also engages traditionally underrepresented genders in science and

leadership.

Addressing disability promotes accessibility, allowing active participation, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and the development of assistive technologies. This inclusive approach extends beyond the current team, actively encouraging diversity in future collaborations and promoting a culture of accessibility. We will pay special attention to diversity when hiring the staff associated to this proposal.

Pride  in Polar Research (PiPR) was founded in 2018 by an openly intersex,  queer, and disabled early career researcher as a direct response to the  unjust inequities many LGBTQIA+ professionals face in the polar world.

PiPR's  mission is to listen to, support, unite, and uplift diverse, queer  minds to promote the best possible science in the Arctic and  Antarctic.
